Promoting Legal Migration from Moldova to Bulgaria and EU

Information event

An information event on legal migration opportunities from Moldova to Bulgaria and the EU was held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, from 27 to 30 May 2025. The event was organized by the European Institute Foundation, under the project “Fostering of legal migration from Moldova and Georgia to Bulgaria” funded by AMIF 2021-2027.

The event was officially opened by Ms. Maya Dobreva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Lyubov Panayotova, Director of the European Institute and Ms. Lilia Plugaru, Deputy Director of the National Employment Agency of Moldova.

The agenda covered a wide range of topics related to legal migration, including: legal framework and opportunities for legal residence and work in Bulgaria; access to the Bulgarian labor market through the Bulgaria – Moldova Labor Migration Agreement; benefits and challenges of legal migration to the EU; good practices from countries such as Germany. On the second day, a simulation information tour was held, offering the participants the opportunity to learn about the specific steps for starting legal work in Bulgaria, procedures for issuing visas, residence permits and the EU Blue Card. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions in specially designated information corners, as well as to receive free thematic information and promotional materials.
